3D Computer Modeling

Graphics is a core mechanical engineering class that taught me the basic concepts of 3D computer modeling. While in this class we were given a project to design a basic jet-ski engine model with a software called SolidWorks.

In this project, I was able to create a successful model of a basic jet-ski engine by using SolidWorks. By the end of this project I had a total of 79 pages of drawing sheets showing each part’s measurements. The Jet-Ski engine even had to simulate a running engine by rotating the gears on the outside to move the pistons up and down inside the engine block. The hardest part of the project was timing the gears to where they rotated correctly and smoothly with no interference. To make my design a little more unique I added a couple of my own designs to the engine block as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this project very much and I hope in my future careers and opportunities that I am able to work on similar projects.  Below are some pictures of my final design.

This is my final design set up in a drawing to show each individual part that went into the whole assembly

This was the final product that I designed and painted on solidworks. If you rotate the shaft on the right it will turn moving this pistons in the process. You can see where the pistons are placed in the drawing above. As you can tell I take pride in my work and try to have a little fun with it as well.
